"Gobleen"
Been working on this on and off for the last 2 weeks or so, happy with how it came out. The basic model was based on a 3D model (here) which is copyright to Filipe Lopes.
I deviated a little from the original design, and I actually feel like these are the best parts of the image.
I plan to do a few more things like this...hopefully a little faster next time.

"Gobleen" WIP
Been working on this on and off for the past week or so. It's a value study based a on a 3d model. (C) Filipe Lopes

Goblin speed paint thing
A quick 30 minute type sketch thing just playing around with colour and value. I actually learned a lot in these 30 minutes.

Day 26 - Something you don't like:
Tile shops.
This may seem like a particularly random thing not to like...but it feels like a lot of my childhood was spent being dragged round tile shops. In reality it was probably just two hours one weekend, but there is a strange dilation of time that occurs in the forsaken grounds of a tile shop, stretching a minute to an eternity.

Go Figure
Been trying to do a lot of anatomy based stuff. These are a few examples of some of the basic sketches I've done. Goal is to be able to realistically draw the human body / head in as many poses / angles as possible.

30 Day "Drawing" Challenge - Day 24 - A couple
Day 24 - A couple:
I got a bit lazy with today's challenge, but it's mostly because I'm too busy working on other stuff that holds higher priority. Plus I wanted to try a bit of simple graffiti style writing. So today is ... a writing challenge?
In case you can't read it... it's Salt and Pepper.

Speed Paint - 13-9-2012
This ended up really frustrating me at first, I think I restarted it three or four times. The purple/blue triangle shapes in the sky are supposed to be Aurora Borealis. This end result is 22 minutes long...you can see a capture here.
"If you can't do it well - do it abstract" - me.
Also I completely forgot about the 30 day drawing challenge today...I shall catch up tomorrow.

30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 20 - Something Orange
Day 20 - Something Orange:
Admittedly I drew this without thinking about the challenge...but it's orange, so hey, why not.
Got inspired by a random photograph. I think it's a character from Assasin's Creed.
Speed Paints - 8-10th September
Above is a collection of some of the studies I have done over the past few days.
All images are based on source photography.
From top to bottom:
[1] Dark Forest - 40 minutes
[2] Green Hill - 20 minutes
[3] Autumn - 20 minutes
[4] Snow Hill - 20 minutes
[5] Mountains - 20 minutes
[6] Jungle Valley - 40 minutes
For the most I am staying within 20 minutes, but I'm still hovering around 30-40 minutes to 'complete' a picture. 20 minutes still feels a little too fast at the moment.
Below are the later 3 in a bit more detail:
I also recorded the last one, which you can see ... here.

Speed Paint
#1:
20 minutes.
pretty baddd today.
I also recorded this one, it's pretty useful to see where stuff went wrong / how it can be improved upon...

Speed Paints - 8-9-2012
#1 - 54 mins:
#2 - 40 mins:
Trying to keep these within 20 minutes but it is hard! Like how #1 turned out, I think #2 could have been better if I worked on it longer but decided to draw the line at 40 mins.
...more tomorrow

Speed Paints
#2 - 20 mins
#2 I used colours sourced from photo.
I'm trying to like 3 or 4 of these a day...they can be quite fun when they're going well.

30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 17 - Favourite Plant
Day 17 - Favourite Plant:
I don't really have a favourite plant but water lilies are pretty cool.
Quite glad with how this turned out, about 20-30 mins, very hard to motivate myself to do this at first but I'm glad I did.

Speed painting - Ocean
"Hopefully when I do one tomorrow it will look a little better." - Me, yesterday.
Oh well. Maybe tomorrow then.
I actually spent 30 minutes of my life on this monstrosity. Where did it go wrong? I'm not even sure. The boat (that thing in the picture that doesn't look like a boat) needs to be completely redone. The ocean, the sky, aragagagh. Looks like a child's felt tip drawing that has been left out in the rain.
Did I learn anything?
If you try and do something and don't really put any effort in because you don't really want to do it - it's going to look bad.
Reddit sketch - "Living in space"
A very basic drawing. It's supposed to be a long corridor with monks sort of meditating - floating around in anti-gravity. I really liked the idea of a space station / temple. I think I will be coming back to this idea.

Speed painting - Desert
40 mins, half made up / half source.
I also did another speed paint of a mountain / lake scene, but accidentally lost the file. So just this one today.
It's pretty frustrating doing these at the moment, because it's really hard to make something look good in a short amount of time.
Hopefully when I do one tomorrow it will look a little better. And so forth.
30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 16 - Inspiration
Day 16 - Inspiration:
Mo Farah.
Or zombie Mo Farah as I've drawn him here. Watching Mo win his gold medals at the olympics was really inspiring to me, and he is currently one of my main sources of inspiration, as well as all of the GB athletes who went to the olympics.
It may sound corny, but it really does show that with hard work and determination, you can accomplish whatever you set out to do.

30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 15 - Family Portrait
Day 15 - Family Portrait:
Cows.
I have to apologise to the random asian family that were the source for the portrait. Also sorry to the cows I guess. Colours were sourced from the images, poses were drawn au natrual. Not great, but it serves it's purpose. Took about 4 hours? Much longer than I wanted to spend on it in the first place.
